That Your Joy May Be Full!

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
~John 15:11

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
~Psalm 16:11

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
~ Galatians 5:22-23

My life is full of joy. Does this mean I am always happy? Nope! Joy is something deeper than happiness. It's living my life...knowing that God is in control. He is the Alpha and the Omega! I know that the Holy Spirit lives in me...because I know that Jesus died for me and that I can receive forgiveness because of His sacrifice! I seek to have a cheerful attitude and a loving spirit each and every day. I strive to live my life sharing the love of Christ with those I meet. This doesn't make life easier....but it does make it joyful!

Is your life full of joy? Do you live your days content with whatever situation you are in...and seeking to show love and happiness to those around you? Sometimes times aren't the best and situations are discouraging...however, with the strength you are given through the Holy Spirit...you can find contentment in your life. Do everything to the glory of God...and I promise you...joy will fill your life until it is pouring out of you and spilling onto others. The more we love others around us...the more joy we have.
I want to encourage you today...if you are reading this...and don't feel the joy God desires for you....to pray about it and really set your heart out to do all things to God's glory! That's why we are on this Earth. Not to serve ourselves...but to please God! :o)

One of the things that brings joy to my family's life is homeschooling! Today was another day...always learning something new! (Even I am learning some new things along the way..LOL!)
And reading THIS news story reminds me how glad I am homeschooling! ACK! Whatever happened to field trips to the museum???

Madelyn does really well...and seems to enjoy our one-on-one time! Although...at times...things can get a bit chaotic with the boys...we're still working on that! LOL

I wanted to share a couple pics the kids drew yesterday. They were drawing pics of thunderstorms. (Xavier's picture is the top one..I kinda cut off his gray and orange sky...but see the dots on his paper? That's the rain :)
Madelyn's picture is on the bottom. Her lightning caught the tree on fire in her pic...(she drew this to remember how dangerous lightning can be....last week was National Fire Prevention week...and we learned about how dangerous fires can be!)

Jaxson...hehehe...such a funny guy! We took "pictures" of each other taking "pictures"...LOL. He thought that was hilarious!

And my knitting is coming along...slowly but surely....I don't always have a lot of time to work on it...but when I do...I work! :) My hands tend to cramp up a bit while knitting...does anyone know if this is normal? Does this happen to you??

Today is grocery day for me! So...I best get moving. I need to finish up and organize my grocery list before going! I hope you all are having a wonderful Wednesday!!! xoxo

  2. Katy, wow...that knitting sure is coming along! You probably just aren't used to holding the knitting and needles..or are too tense? I love knitting scarves!!

Thank you for your posts....you do inspire me on days I don't feel inspired. I haven't managed to feel what you are able to feel, I hope to one day....I know I am very blessed in my life, I just don't feel that way at times...does that make sense?

Anyway, have fun grocery shopping...and as always I enjoyed you post.....love the kids drawings! I still have most of the drawings my kids did when they were that age (some I had to write on the back what they were...heehee)

  4. That link you have posted in your blog just makes my blood boil!! I agree with you on what happened to going to places like the zoo or a pumpkin patch? Kind of scary to think what our world will be like when those little tots become teenagers and then adults. To think that parents would sit back and let that happen...oh my! I will get off my soap box now lol but I do love your blog and enjoy reading!

  10. Wow. I know if my kids were in the public school system they would NEVER have my permission to go on a field trip like that.

  11. Well first of all I would NEVER give permission for my children to go to a field trip like that. FORGET IT! That is just ridiculous.

As for the knitting, that happens to me sometimes, but only if I've been knitting non stop for an hour or so, then they do cramp up a bit.

  13. thanks for the link...here in California we are voting for traditional marriage...don't know if it will pass or not, hope it does...I am just glad our kids are almost grown now and can't understand any parent who would agree to let their precious little ones participate in something like that..yuck..
all the more reason to homeschool...
love the colors in your knitting...and I think you are probably holding the needles to tightly..relax a little and see if it helps...

  14. Your knitting looks VERY pretty!! Good job for working on it! I can crochet, but knitting just doesn't come as easily. I've got knitting on my list of "things to learn in the future"! :)

And I saw the story about the field trip. Sad, huh? I agree that homeschooling is such a blessing!

  15. Just wanted to stop by and say hello. Though I don't get to visit as often as I'd like, I think of you often during my homeschool days. Katy, it is so wonderful to see your life being blessed through homeschooling. Looks like you and your chiuldren are having such fun. I'm so glad for you.

    Blessings,

  16. Amen! I know I fail miserably a lot of the time, but I really do try to be joyful and cheerful most of the time. I think being joyful and happy is a choice we make, but cannot achieve true joy without God being involved.
I was absolutely shocked at the title of that news story! I didn't bother to read it. No child of mine would have been allowed to witness such a thing!
I know we are to "Love the sinner and hate the sin," and I try to do that, but I could never attend a gay wedding. Just as I could never pretend that I agree with it or condone it.
What is this world coming to? never mind! Don't answer that! I guess we all ready know, don't we?
Praise God for the house He has built just for His chilren!
    Have a blessed day!

  17. Katy,
What a wonderful post! I`m so glad homeschooling is bringing so much joy into your lives!!
As far as that field trip goes,I saw an artical this morning from onenews.com regarding the same thing and it really sickened me.To expose young children to such filth is just discusting.
Your knitting looks beautifil by the way!! The colors are wonderful. As far as your hand getting numb...not sure why. Maybe your just not used to keeping it in that position. My hand gets very numb because of the anemia I have.If it just happens durring the time your knitting I wouldn`t worry too much about it:)
I hope you have a blessed day today!!!

  18. I love your comments on living a joyful life. I think so many people get discouraged because they aren't always "HAPPY". Truly missing the point aren't they? Your blog is an awesome testament to your faith. You have much to be proud of.
