So....here is what I came up with after lots of reading and pondering over different scriptures:
Our homeschool name: [The School] Under God's Umbrella
Our purpose: Learning and growing in knowledge and obedience of God while under the protection of Godly discipline and love so as to fulfill Colossians 1:10 ~ "that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God."
And...yesterday...I was cleaning upstairs...and I walk out into the hall from my room...and this is what I see:
Aren't they so silly?? They crack me up!!! Although my kiddos can drive me bananas....I am so thankful I get to stay home with them and that I am so blessed to be their mother. I am so excited to start this homeschooling journey with them as well!!! xoxo Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
I love the name of your school and your mission statement! Very clear indeed! The name of our school is "Proverbs 22:6 Schoolhouse". :-) Last year was our first year, and this year my son will be in first grade. We're excited! I've had to 'explain' why we choose to homeschool as well. There is a lot of support in our area, but it's been a bit of a challenge to get some family to accept it. We just keep praying that we are doing God's will. There is a lot of support here in blogland too, which I've found so wonderful. Bless you and your conviction to teach your children. I'll pray for a blessed, productive, and cherished schoolyear ahead for all of you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Katie
What cute kids you have! I commend you for homeschooling. I see a lot of women in blog land homeschooling now-a-days. It's a big job.
ReplyDeleteBrandee :-)
Katy,
ReplyDeleteYou gotta love kids' creativity! I love those photos! Mine discovered at different times that they could do that in our hallway!
I can't wait to share stories with you when you officially "start" your homeschooling! We won't begin until September officially, although, we really never completely quit during the summer! You're going to have so much fun...making lots of memories! I'll be glad to help in any way I can...not that I'm an expert, but it's always nice having other people to talk to about it!
Have a great weekend!
Tammy

Love the name of the school and the mission statement. You know I'm considering homeschooling my children next year, but then I get worried that I won't do it right or I will mess up LOL
ReplyDeleteMaybe next year I'll work up the courage to do it :)
Hugs,
Sandra
Just came by for my dose of smiles, and by crackie, I got thim!!!! Your kiddos are just too sweet and happy!!!!! Love it! And I LOVE the name you have chosen for your homeschool! Just so perfect and I couldn't improve a bit on it!

Hey Katy, Love the idea of naming your school. I am also a home school mom, and I like you have gotten the same question why do I homeschool. I just tell everyone I want to know my kids are getting a christian background and it also keeps them from having the wrong influences. Now you've got me thinkin what can I name our school. Have a great weekend. Karen
ReplyDeleteHi Katy! Love your school name. It's perfect. Our homeschool is called Boanerges ... because in the Bible, Jesus called two of his disciples who were brothers "Boanerges" ~ Sons of Thunder ~ powerful through Him. The boys always enjoy that.
ReplyDeleteI'll send you an email shortly on how I write Colton's master plan. It is just a guideline for me to keep me focused on my goals for him for the school year. Always have a master plan ... always written in pencil! LOL That way you give yourself permission to change if you see a different direction is needed.
I'm so excited for you. Homeschooling is truly the most rewarding venture I've ever entered and I've loved every year of being with my children. 10 years and no regrets.
Hugs,
Lea
Great name !!
ReplyDeleteThose pics bring back memories when my kids did that once or twice! LOL
Katy, I just love your homeschool name! When I homeschooled our children, I too, was constantly asked why. At that time, homeschool was quite new to our area. I spent a lot of time defending the homeschool decision. Now it sems everyone is homeschooling without so much ridicule. I am so glad for that!Enjoy this time, it too will go by so quickly! blessings, Kathleen
ReplyDeleteJackson has discovered that he can climb the doorways too. He thinks he is a monkey!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great HS mission. I read that somewhere on another blog, also to post it where you can read it as you may need to be reminded some days!!

I love the name of your school and the mission statement!!Can`t wait to hear how everything goes once the scool year starts!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love the pictures! We have similar ones of my friend Katie and I in college, haha! You have a wonderful name for your homeschool. :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat name and idea!! We never had a name prior to this spring. I wanted to order from Scholatic.com from the Teacher Store and you have to be a school. The gal told me as long as I had a school name I could get an account, ours is our last name and Solid Rock Academy-since the reason we are home schooling is to build a sold foundation on Christ with academics building into it :O)
ReplyDeleteHope you are getting excited for your first year!
smiles,
Shayne Louree

My hubs and I came up with a name for our "school" too! Why is it that that seems so important to us hs moms?! God bless you as you homeschool! Thanks for visiting my blog!
