Some Updates (Home & Blog)...

As you may have noticed, when you clicked onto my page, I finally found some time to make my blog a new header. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I like it better than the temporary one I had previously. :)

I have also been doing things around the house (there is always something to update/re-organize/clean). Schooling keeps me busy pretty much all morning (although I do get some dishes/laundry/general pick-up done while the children are each able to work for a few minutes independently throughout the morning) so I take time in the afternoon to work at keeping my home.

I hope you'll forgive me...but I do get excited over the simple things...such as a clean refrigerator with new liners put down on the shelves...

Jaxson seems to have found a *home* for his sword in the kitchen. Unfortunately, this is not going to be able to be it's official home since we use those drawers! ;)

In the dining room, candles are lit daily. They create such a warm atmosphere against the stark white/icy/snow scenery seen out the windows!

In the living room, I had moved a book case a bit ago but hadn't actually spent time putting things as I wanted them on this bureau. Today I took the time to arrange some things (to see how it was when I first moved it in, go HERE)...

And finally...just because he was looking oh-so-cute this morning...a photo of my Jaxson...

And now I must go...it's time to spend time snuggling in a chair with said boy (yes, that handsome one pictured above) and have him read to me. Thankfully, he *likes* to read and is doing quite well with it! Meatloaf will be mixed up and put into the oven for supper tonight! What sorts of things does your afternoon and evening hold?

♥ In loving kindness,
   Katy

  3. Good afternoon, Katy, from Joyce in Lee's Summit, MO. I don't leave comments very often but have been following your blog for about a year now. I always enjoy the pictures of your home and the family. The kids are growing up right before my eyes and I know you are so proud of each of them. Congratulations on the new addition to the family (your sister's new baby), and please also know that I have been including her father-in-law in my prayers. It must be meatloaf day, because that's what I have planned to fix for dinner for us this evening. My afternoon has been spent cleaning out the basement and reorganizing my material and craft supplies. I have so much and need to start thinning it out. My plan this year is to start shedding some of the stuff we've accumulated over the years. I'm ready for a more simple, clutter-free life. Hope you all have a beautiful day, and please keep those blog postings coming. I feel like when I visit The Country Blossom I am visiting an old friend. God Bless.

  4. Adding liners to the frig is on my to do list. I dislike how dirty the shelf that hold the milk container gets.

    Love the new header!

  7. I love reading your blog, I found about 2yrs ago when I started homeschooling. Unfortunately we had to move and I no longer get to homeschool anymore, but you have inspired me to have a closer relationship with God, I've started Bible study classes, and we have joined a new Church! I would just like to Thank You for that!

  9. Your blog is so inspirational! I love that I am not alone in wanting to be a housewife! I get alot of grief from family and friends wondering when I'm going back to work. My children are 18 and 13, I've stayed at home since my oldest was born, and we feel that it is more important now to be home with them than ever!! Have a blessed day!

  10. Love the picture of the sword and it's "home" in the kitchen. My daughter is now 14 and I miss the days when I would find all her barbie dolls (100+!) lined up against the sofa. Kids grow up way to fast! It is hard to imagine until you experience it yourself I believe.

Have a great evening (or day; depending on when you read this).

  11. Prove you are not a robot! I guess I haven't commented lately to notice that. Sometime I feel like a robot; going through the motions but with a fuzzy (flu induced) mind!

    1. I had to put that on. I was getting WAY too many spam comments...it was horrible! I hate word verification but it truly helps keep the SPAM at bay! :)

  12. Jaxon looks mighty handsome, if I must say! Love your header. I hope soon to get around to doing something different. Right now I am busy knitting socks. You can come down here to NC and clean my fridge. When there is a death, neighbors come in with food and take care of the kitchen until after the funeral. I told one of my friends not to let anyone come in my kitchen because the fridge may not be cleaned out. That is a job that I hate but the other day, I did clean out bowls with just a dab of food saved and thought we would eat it and didn't. Bless you and yours!

  13. You just have a cozy, warm home. I love all the rooms, what a neat idea to do with the muffin tin. And, I would have never thought to put liner in the fridge, makes for an easy clean up I bet. I happen to be a clean freak and I like everything organized. When I'm not doing school with my boys, I love to reorganize too. I also love to bake (as you have seen from my blog) Keep up the good work! Have a great week!
    Blessings,
    Amy
