Porch Decorating

On Saturday...I was looking in our shed and found a treasure! Look at that old wooden shelf I found! Isn't it fantastic??? I just love it! I hope to plant flowers in crocks and put them on and around it! I still *really* want to find a really cool old chair to put on the other side of the porch too. I just love old chairs! You know...the ones you can't really *sit* on because they are too old...but they look really great?? :o)

And see the little wooden bear beside it on the porch? Jake, a friend from high school, made that. He does chainsaw wood carving! He makes all kinds of things!!! :)

It's raining today. I am moving at about snail-speed! After previous days of beautiful weather and getting lots accomplished...today I have slowed down. I hope to spend some time reading and knitting, reading with the kids, doing some housework and just move s-l-o-w-l-y! We had a great family night, last evening and I took pics and will be happy to post about it soon! :)

I also have a new header! What do you think? :)
Thank you for taking the time to visit today. I truly appreciate it! I hope you have a great Monday...rain or shine! :)

  1. Hey Katy, Lucky you for finding the cool shelf. And I gotta add that I love your new header pics and your profile pic that is new too right? I know what ya mean about the beautiful days and getting alot accomplished and then having to settle in b/c of the rain. Thursday and Friday I got so much done outside..except for the Garden ; ( I was planning on tilling again, but ppl kept dropping by)...Love the company but geez cant a lady get some yardwork done without interruption..Lol Anyway I thought I would be able to do the Garden saturday after the ballpark..but instead it was rainy and blah...Yesterday was miserably windy and COLD. Today Is suppose to get back to the mid 60's...so will see I guess ; )
    Sorry for rambling..Lol

  3. cool shelf! you're better off looking for an old chair at a yard sale (or auction)... don't pay a ton of money for a country looking one from a store (like millers) since it will just sit outside and get ruined anyway---just my opinion! i'll keep an eye out for ya!

your header threw me off for a second! haha! i took my stupid tree outside because it kept getting bug eggs on it! all winter! they were little gnat type bugs. anytime a bud would sprout... those little eggs would appear and i would have to spray the whole tree with some bug killer stuff. finally, when the weather got nice... i just put the stupid thing outside. i don't want an infestation of bugs in my house from the hibiscus!!! the bugs never "grew up"--thank goodness... but i didn't want to take any chances!

  11. Cute, cute and oh yeah- cute!
:) I love old usable things like benches and shelves... repurposing is much better than landfilling it! :)

  12. That is a really nice shelf! I have an old chair on my front porch and it is getting so wonky looking I am not sure how long it is going to even slightly resemble a chair! I keep an old wooden birdhouse on it so no one tries to sit on it. Our sunshine has disappeared here too, and my motivation is about zero! I have a rag doll to make by Wednesday so I hope to get up enough gumption to start it.

    Your header is great too!

  14. I love tresures and hunting for them. Looks like you found an awesome shelf there, hope to see it later with your crocks and flowers, that sounds pretty.

It has been cold and rainy in our area & may even snow on Wednesday, I'm so ready to see the spring flowers and more sunshine.

    Blessings,

  16. I'm having so many thoughts about what to do with our front porch/doorway area. I want a nice bench..rustic.

Your table looks good for the part and I know what you mean about the chair.

    Your header is also beautiful!

  19. The new header looks great!!! Love the little bench. I agree that it would look really great with some old crocks lining the bottom portion. I've been on the look out for one of those old chairs too! I actually found three at a local antique shop. At that time, thought, I was on a spending freeze (so why was I in an antique shop tempting myself???!!!)so I didn't buy one. But they were pretty awesome. Now the antique shop is closed down. Boo hoo!
