It's Almost Reformation Day!

After being down and out for almost a week with a bit of a stomach bug, I am finally starting to feel back to my "normal" self (whatever *that* is!ha!). So here is a bit of a post...maybe not too interesting but visually enjoyable none-the-less! :D

To celebrate Reformation Day (Oct. 31), which commemorates the day in 1517 when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the church in Wittenburg, we had a "Reformation Day Study" today. We are watching movies on it and doing a work packet of printables that I put together for the children.

Since fall is winding down over the next month and the trees are becoming bare, I thought I had better take a few more photos of God's beautiful creation before winter kicks in (a season that has a beauty all its own!).

The foundation is coming along when time and weather allow...

The chickens are enjoying the time they get out to free-range a bit each day...

Leaves cover the the yard...

The wood shed is getting filled...

Inside, candles burn warm and fill the air with sweet scents...

A little reading (this is what Jaxson is reading right now)...

Jaxson's creations are always somewhere in the house...if the boy finds a box he will find a way to turn it into *something*...

So thankful to be *in*doors when it's blustery cold outside...

The boys enjoyed a little time "playing" yesterday...

These sweet girls came to town to visit today as well! My sister made all their costumes. She's so talented!

Two pretty mermaids!

The cutest gumball machine around...

Uncle Chris with Audra...

And this picture would have been super cute had it not been blurry...

I have so many great ideas of deep, theological things to post...but when I sit down to actually write a post I go blank. And honestly, I don't always have a ton of time to sit down and actually type out all that I am thinking. I *do* hope to one day....as I truly do have so much on my heart I would love to share!

Well, I need to run ~ I have things to do (when you haven't been well for a few days it can leave you with a number of things to catch up on!

Hope you have a great weekend ahead!
Cheerfully,
Katy

Thrifting Finds & a Picture to Make You Smile!

I had no desire to go to Goodwill last week...but Xavier begged me, as he wanted to look for something in particular. I caved and we went. He didn't find what he was looking for (although he did find a super-great pair of overalls that he will grow into! They were in *great* shape and I got them for $6). I was glad to find a couple things though!

First I found this bowl and pitcher! It's small and just absolutely perfect! I love it and had a place on our bathroom sink for it!

I also found this mug! Isn't it neat!?

And finally...a picture to make you smile! My handsome Jaxson...the clothes and bow tie are normal attire for this lad...but that mustache just brings it all together, doesn't it? :)

Just a short, fun little post today. We have been busy with schooling, housework, running errands, teaching spin (me), and more! I hope your week is going well! Thanks so much for visiting!!! :)

And for any of you who may be interested...I have some new stickers in the shop:

Katy

Photos from Home In October

"Anne reveled in the world of color about her.
'Oh, Marilla,' she exclaimed one Saturday morning, coming dancing in with her arms full of gorgeous boughs, 'I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn't it? Look at these maple branches. Don't they give you a thrill -- several thrills?'"
~L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

October is here with all its brilliant colors and splendor! Some days are rainy but others are cloudless, sun-filled and gorgeous. Look at that blue sky! I praise God for His creation...and isn't it magnificent to think about what Heaven is like...or what the *new* heavens and earth will look like one day? I mean, if a fallen world can look *this* lovely...I can't even fathom the grandness of what will be!

Leaves cover the front yard and the boys have enjoyed raking them and playing in them!

Inside, we are kept busy with our schooling, housework and time together. The days are chillier and we haven't started the wood stove yet so you will see us in slippers, hoodies or wrapped in blankets often!

Clean, tidy counters make me happy...

Always a candle (or two...or three) burnin' away here...

Supper cooking away the other night (boneless pork chops are in the oven...potatoes boiling to mash and sweet corn from the garden)...

Stella...

Winnie...

My sweet three (pics I took out in the woods behind our home)...

Madelyn, X and Jaxson with Ruthie...

It's raining right now...thankfully, we got our errands run a little earlier. Schooling is finished and housework (and hopefully a nap) will begin. I hope you enjoy your weekend ahead! Thank you for visiting!

Kindly,
Katy

A Trip to see the Elk!

Sunday afternoon, after church, we went home to eat and change. Then we traveled with Chris's family to see the elk. There is a great place about an hour away from us. They have all been there before (including my children) but this was my first time going. First, we ate...

Chris, cooking the hotdogs...

Daddy and his little girl...

X, binoculars in hand, ready to spot some elk...

This is the face Chris made while attempting to take a photo of us (it makes me smile every time I look at it)...

After eating we went into the visitor's center to look around first...

There were *a lot* of people there. I was truly surprised at the number of people they say visit this place (in the thousands)! It was a little overwhelming...I was *quite* glad when we got to go back outside!

The beautiful, autumn hills of Pennsylvania...

And then it was time to see the majestic elk. Luckily, my camera has a good zoom feature because they were *not* close up!

This herd (below) was quite a bit away, through trees and up a hill. I was quite happy that I could snap this picture with the zoom feature! I didn't have binoculars to use so I just used my camera to see them!

This guy was a little closer...

Take a look at this fella! I was super thrilled to capture this shot...

Chris took the picture below. When I saw how crisp it was, despite our distance, I was quite amazed! It's a *great* shot...

My silly boys...

Pennsylvania really is a beautiful place to live...

My family...

I hope you enjoyed this little virtual tour. It was a beautiful day and to be honest, at first, I wasn't looking forward to going. My anxiety kicked in full force (crazy, I know) and I really had wanted to just stay home and rest. Chris convinced me to go. He said he wanted to take in God's Creation with his girl (and how can I say no to that?). I am glad he pushed me to go. It was a beautiful day...beautiful scenery and so nice to spend time with my loved ones!

Thanks so much for visiting.
I hope you stop again soon!
Warmly,
Katy
