The Grace Effect: Review & Giveaway! (closed)

"Through the inward transformation of the individual, there is a corresponding outward transformation of society. This is what I call the "grace effect". Simply defined, it is an observable phenomenon--that life is demonstrably better where authentic Christianity flourishes."
~Larry Alex Taunton, The Grace Effect p.22

I have spent my free time, the past couple of weeks, reading The Grace Effect by Larry Alex Taunton. What a powerful book! It's one I found hard to put down. Imagine with me, if you will, a world without Christianity...filled with atheists and complete socialism, people only looking out for themselves and how to line their pockets. This mental picture would give you a pretty accurate description of Ukraine.

This is just what Larry Alex Taunton, his wife and two sons found when they arrived in Ukraine to adopt an orphan named Sasha, a young girl whose entire life had been void of true love. This book outlines the many frustrations they had to endure while going through the process of adopting this child. Through the story, Taunton weaves more than just a tale of adoption...he describes the beautiful way grace can change a person.

  7. Katy, sometimes I feel like the whole world has become the way you have described the Ukrane. Then I read some of the beautiful blogs from dedicated Christian women...and I have hope for my grandchildren.....not that I have any yet....:)

  12. Hi Katy!

I would like to read the book as well. I am in agreement (or at least I notice it more) that more times than not; people tend to be "in it" for themselves. It's kind of sad when even mild consideration for others or a friendly "hello" is hard to come by.
Our friends down the street adopted a beautiful little eight month old girl (who is now seven) after having two boys of their own. She is healthy and vibrant now. It took them quite a while to get her home, but she's been such a blessing to the family. (:

Good luck to all who enter your drawing! (:

Smiles & well wishes sent your way Katy!

P.S. I see you didn't keep the new dishcloths in your Etsy shop very long. hehe (: Good for you!
