Sew Happy!

Here is a pic of my sewing machine! Isn't it great?? I just love it..but have NO idea how to thread it at all. (notice the dust around it....showing signs of no use? LOL) I really want to learn how to sew clothes and curtains and much more! The possiblities are endless! My MIL's mom had a machine similar to mine...so she is going to come over and teach me how to thread it! :) I can't wait. I am so excited to make my first creation. Even if i mess it up....i am excited to try it out and practice! Do any of you sew? I would love to know what you have sewn. Also...any tips for a newbie sewer??

  1. I love that sewing machine. My mom has one alot like it & I have been trying to get my hands on it forever LOL! I have a sewing machine. Told Matt I just had to have it. Well, I have had it over a year & haven't even got it out of the box LOL! I would love to make all kinds of things but honestly I'm clueless about it all!

  4. I got my sewing machine at Goodwill for $5!!! I had it re-conditioned for $40, so I think I got quite the deal! However...I don't sew very well. I have made very simple skirts, and a few aprons, that's about it. I would just go to the fabric store and ask for help. I picked out very easy patterns for beginners, and took my time. The directions are very foreign if you have never sewed before, tho the staff at the fabric store was very helpful. Just enjoy, and even your mistakes will be fine!

  6. Girl, I so love that sewing machine. How very cute and country but you want to know something? The first thing my eyes went to was the ADORABLE country print on your wall in the background. See, even more of a reason to hire you to decorate our first home!

  7. Mant times there are quilting quilds you can join and much knowledge can be gained. I just joined one in October and have learned so much. If nothing else it's a great night out and so much fun to see what others bring as "show and tell".

I would think most fabrix stores could line you up with the closest guild to your location.

Have fun with it, and hey mistakes make it all the more fun to laugh about later.

I've even begun to teach my daughter (11) and son (8) to sew.

Just type in coasters in the search bar of my blog and you will be able to see their creations.
