Happy Dress Up Day!!!

I am NOT a big fan of Halloween at all...but we do like to dress up the kids and go show off their costumes and get some candy. No harm in that in my opinion! We are finally home and all sooo pooped but had a good time! :) We went to one of our neighbors, who has a small assisted living facility attached to their home...and went and visited each of the older ladies that lived there. They seemed to really enjoy seeing the kids...i think i will go over to visit more often! :) I need to bake something and take it over...i bet the ladies would LOVE it!!! It really doesn't take much to make a person smile...and a smile can totally turn a bad day into a good day! Try it! It works! :)

Also...today was grocery day. I went to that lower priced store first...and got some good things at good prices! Then headed over to Walmart. I think i did pretty well on my purchases! :) Of course, I am going to keep trying to do better so i can get some awesome deals! Again...any ideas...i am still open.

I hope you all had a great last day of October! I have pics of my kids dressed up..but i haven't uploaded them yet...i will post them tomorrow!!! :) g'night!!! xoxo

Pumpkin Time!

Today was a good day! I got so much accomplished and I just feel good. Don't you just love days like that? I stripped the beds, washed sheets and bedding and remade all the beds with fresh smelling and feeling sheets! AHHHH!!!! :) I got a lot of cleaning done...and i also made a 1 2 3 4 Cake! It was the first time i ever made one...and it went well! I also made homemade buttercream frosting for it! (although, my powdered sugar was kinda clumpy and didn't make the exact icing i wanted...but it still tasted great!)

My sister came over for supper (stuffed chicken breasts, mashed potatoes and green beans...yum!) and then we all went over to our neighbors who we just adore, to carve pumpkins! We had a really nice time and i took the cake over there and we all enjoyed it with some apple cider! :) It was a nice evening. Here is a pic of the cake...although i forgot to take a pic before we actually dove into it! LOL See how my icing was chunky? Oh well....chunks of pure sugar...YUMMM!

I am not a major fan of Halloween...but I think cute/fun costumes can be fun and i think pumpkin carving can be a ton of fun as well. Great fellowship etc. We don't take the evil aspect of the halloween! We just take it as another fun excuse for us to get together and have a great time! Here's some pics of us with the pumpkins...the girl with dark hair helping the kids is my sister :)

From the Word Friday!

"Be devoted to one another in brothery love. Honor one another above yourselves." ~ Romans 12:10

How can you be an encourager to people? How can you make people feel loved and accepted all while showing Jesus through you? By showing them that you care and you put their needs above your own. Sending a random card, praying with someone, calling them to let them know you are thinking about them, helping them do a project and expect nothing in return. These are just a few of the ways you can encourage others and build them up. Jesus showed the ultimate love for us by dieing on the cross because of OUR sins! We are called to be like Him and reflect that love onto others. You never know how a kind word or simple sweetness towards someone can improve their day or even their life!
Sometimes it is hard to do this with people we dislike. But no matter what...we are to love everyone and honor them. Sometimes I have a hard time with this. But I believe praying for strength and really aiming to please Jesus in my life will make this easier for me to do over time! I encourage anyone who reads this to go out of your way to do something for someone this week....even just drop a note in the mail! It just may lead someone to Jesus!!!

OH....and if YOU would like to participate in From the Word Friday....please add your link to the bottom of this post with the link right to that post! I would love to hear your thoughts and views on scripture!!! :)

Have a blessed Friday! xoxo

Getting Ready For Christmas!!!

OK....soo, I was reading Monica's blog and she reminded us it is time to start planning/organizing for Christmas! So true! She provided this website to help us get organized. Since I already have a home planner...i am dedicating a section of it to Christmas. I printed out this master gift list to keep me organized. I already bought my Christmas cards. I found them at Ollie's at a FANTASTIC price! I got different tins of them and they have different prints on them of Mary Engelbreit designs (of course...LOL). They are really cute. So that is one thing i have taken care of. In the cards, I will send them a letter to update people on our family. I usually decorate each card and envelope a bit too...to personalize it. But I can't stand when I go to a holiday get -together..and people hand me a christmas card (or send them) and all they have done is signed their name at the bottom....where is the love and spirit in that? Why do people waste the money?

I already started making gifts for people and preparing in that way! :) As well as started my gift ideas list etc. I want Christmas to be as organized as possible because #1 i love organization...and #2 so we can enjoy the real meaning of the holidays without being worried or stressed about the "stuff" that goes along with it all! We need to remember why there even IS a Christmas...and that is the birth of Christ. That's why I am printing out this sheet to put in my binder as well. It helps keep your holiday priorities in order!
That is a big reason why I love to be organized....it makes things easier in the long run. It makes less stress and chaos and lets you enjoy the moments at hand because you are prepared! I also try to do as many homemade items as I can....they are so special and important, in my opinion!

If you are starting to prepare for Christmas...i would love to hear all about it...whether in the comments here or leave me a link to your blog and i will come visit!

Here is a link to being frugal and keeping costs lower at Christmas! And I encourage you NOT to use the plastic at Christmas. Plastic = credit cards. My hubby and I have never had a credit card and don't intend on getting one either. The only way to stay out of credit card debt is to not get a credit card! We don't have a ton of money either....we just learn to be super careful and not go crazy with gift giving. Sure, big gift opening fests can be fun....but not at the expense of your sanity. Don't buy stuff you can't afford. It just makes you and your spouse stressed! Here is a link to Financial Peace University. We are taking this class at our church...and it is fantastic! This guy makes total sense! It is such a blessing! If you are reading this now, God brought you here for a reason...check it out! :)

I am so excited for this Christmas season! I plan on making it the best one yet cuz I hope to be fully prepared! xoxo have a great day!!!

ALSO...HERE is a link to some other great printable forms...i will be using some of them as well!

Cookies, Crafts, and Other Stuff!

So, I was in picture taking mood today! LOL So...you get to join me in my mood! So, this afternoon, i made some chocolate/peanut butter chip cookies from scratch....

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Then I took a plate over to our neighbors (who i just love) with a note that said "So glad we're neighbors".

Here is M's turkey craft. X didn't do his all the way cuz he got distracted and then my mom came and picked him up. He gets to have a sleepover at her house and then "work" with her at her office tomorrow...M used to do that before she had to go to school. They love it! Anyway...here is M's turkey craft...she colored, cut it out and glued it together ALL by herself! Didn't she do a great job?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Here are some mums that M gave me. She had gone with her grammie (my mom) to their church for a tureen lunch this past Sunday and she brought them home with her for me. Isn't that nice? So...they were kinda in an ugly container...so i transplanted them into this super cute jar!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

AND....our supper tonight...hamburger stroganoff over noodles and green beans. One of my hubby's fave meals! Some may not have heard of it or made it before...so i thought i would share my recipe!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Hamburger Stroganoff

1 lb ground beef, cooked and drained
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 small can of mushrooms, stems and pieces
1 cup sour cream (8 oz)
dash of salt
dash of pepper to taste

After cooking and draining the ground beef, mix in the can of soup and the can of mushrooms in with it till hot. Then add the sour cream and cook till hot. Add seasoning to taste. Serve over noodles or rice and with a veggie!

Isn't that a GREAT homecooked meal and sooo easy to make? It is definitely a fave at our house! :) If you try it out...let me know what you think!

And last..but NOT least~ M and J, hamming it up for me in the kitchen!

Did the afternoon crafts.....

So...today was our first day of doing the craft after M gets off the bus from school in the afternoon. This was in attempt to keep the normal fighting at bay. Well...it was a successful failure....LOL. How crazy is that? X just wanted to play with the glue and scissors...so it was quite a fight to get him to focus on the project at hand. M did a good job with hers though..but wanted to KEEP doing crafts today....she loves that stuff and would probably be crafting till bedtime if she could! LOL...X did well too but just had trouble completely focusing on it all....J is too little yet for all that so he kinda ran around and watched. Anyhoo...here are the pics!!! Enjoy! :)

From the Word Friday!

"Even as [in his love] He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love." ~ Ephesians 1:4

How incredibly awesome is that verse? He chose YOU! Accept it, receive it. God loves you. He is glad you are here and is pleased with YOU! Sometimes that is soo hard for us to grasp and understand...how can the Almighty God who created EVERYTHING love us...who are imperfect and sinful people? I was reading in the book "Approval Addiction" by Joyce Meyer and she tells us that God seperates who we are from what we do. God knows our heart. We should admit and repent for our mistakes in life...but no matter what...God loves us. Joyce says "We may not always act the way He wants us to, but we never stop being His children." What a blessing! And because Christ's blood covers us from our sins...we can truly feel free when we repent! In my insecurities....i need to remind myself of this verse and really accept that God loves me for ME!
PRAISE GOD! I hope everyone who reads this finds encouragement in it...and pass it on to people you care about....make sure they know they are LOVED!

Have a blessed Friday everyone! xoxo

Eggs!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

So...here is the egg pic I promised. These are just after being collected. I haven't washed them yet. It is really great to have fresh eggs all the time. If you have ever pondered having chickens, it is a wonderful experience and such a blessing! :)

Also...a pic of my boys....watching Diego this morning.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

As soon as they see me with a camera all i hear is "CHEESE!" LOL...silly boys! Today is a day at home for us! I showered..but am in sweat pants and a tshirt...going totally comfy today. I have some cleaning to do and hope to hang with my boys and spend quality time laughing. There is nothing more joyful to my ears than my kids laughter!
I walked last night with my friend Heather! It was great (although, the hill about killed me LOL) and i feel well exercised and we always have such great conversation! I love it! What a blessing she is to my life! True, great friends are hard to come by and I am so thankful for her!
Well...off I go to clean! I hope you all have a fantastic day!! xoxo

Rearranged M's Room!

It has gotten cold enough at our house to turn on the heat. (I could even see my breath when talking the other morning!!! AACK!) We have forced air heating (not the best, i know...but what we have) and M's bed was covering the vent...so i had to do a lil rearranging. Some of her decorations in her room, she insists on keeping...so i let her. So...some things don't look "perfect" how i would do it...but if she likes them...that is what is important :)

So here is her room...my mom and i painted it. We still have more to do...but this is it so far :)

From the Word Friday!

"A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit," ~Proverbs 15:13

Oh my gosh, how true is that statement? But at the same time....if you are hurting emotionally...it isn't always easy to just be happy and cheerful and forget about what you are going through. If you are hurting right now, I encourage you to take it to the Lord in prayer. He can heal whatever pain you are going through and make your heart whole again. It may take time....remember, our emotions and feelings aren't a switch that can be turned on and off so easily. But trust that He will bring you through what you are dealing with.
Then....laugh...enjoy yourself....be joyful. You know the saying "Laughter is the best medicine".... that is so true! Start seeing the humor in life. Experience the joy your kids and life can bring you. Realize that God put you on this Earth for a reason and you matter. You are loved and cared for...even if sometimes you don't feel like you are! If any of you who reads this needs prayer...please leave me a comment...and I will be sure to pray for you! :)

Annnnnnd.....my new friend, Erin, over at The Vintage Pearl (great blog...def. check it out), said I should post some of my artwork. (Cuz in my long post yesterday I talked about painting and how i love Bob Ross). So....here is one painting i did..i LOVE working in black and whites!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And here is a pic i did..although this wasn't paint. i used chalk! (i actually won an award for this pic..as i guess you can actually see in the pic. My grammie entered it in an art show near where she lives...and i was THRILLED to find out I won)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Those are the only two i have in my photobucket right now...but i will try and add more later! :) Some of my artwork is at my mom's house!

I hope you all have a fantastic friday and a GREAT weekend! :)

Walking and Grape Jelly!

No, don't worry...I didn't walk ON grape jelly! LOL Tonight, I went and walked with my friend, Heather, again. I think we did around 3 miles or so around the track at the high school. The balls of my feet really hurt! LOL (i'm a baby..what can i say?) But it feels great to be doing that though..and have really good conversation! :)
Now, while i am doing that...chris and the kids go to his mom's house...and the kids play while my MIL and chris pick grapes off of her grapevine! Then she makes them into juice and she gave me a couple quarts....so tomorrow, I will be attempting my first ever batch of homemade grape jelly!!!! AACK! i am excited...i hope it goes well and i don't mess it up! This is a year of firsts for me! I started canning this year and canned yellow beans, green beans, and peaches. We froze a lot of sweet corn (although, i have done that every year)...and now i am trying to make jelly! I will be sure to let you know how it goes! *fingers crossed*
